The Foundation

An integrated ethical framework.
Built on 2,000 years of philosophy.

The GoodWay Rating is built on Christian Social Teaching, rooted in Aristotelian practical ethics, developed across two millennia. Its arguments are accessible to any investor, regardless of religious belief.

Where ESG asks about environmental and social impact, the GoodWay Rating asks a prior question: is this company coherent with the dignity of human life and the common good?

"Virtuous finances are not those that comply with certain rules, but those that are appropriate to the good due in each circumstance."

Scoring Methodology

How the GoodWay Score is built.

Every entity receives a score from 0 to 100 through a three-layer process, each layer with distinct logic and data sources.

Layer 01 BINARY
Ethical Veto
Binary pass/fail

Controversial activity screening across 4 ethical pillars. One confirmed violation = immediate 0/100. No weighting, no averaging. Data double-sourced from minimum 2 providers.

Layer 02 WEIGHTED
ESG Quantitative
Weighted scoring

Environmental, Social, and Governance metrics scored independently. Each dimension weighted by sector-specific materiality matrices. Coverage ratio computed for fund transparency.

Layer 03 ADDITIVE
Excellence Premium
Positive impact bonus

5 Excellence Pillars assessed for entities that pass the veto. Net Equilibrium, Stewardship, Human Capital, Value Chain, and Corporate Integrity. Scores elevate the final rating.

Continuous Data Pipeline Not a yearly screen. Always live
Ingestion
Multi-provider feeds

2+ independent sources per metric. Real-time corporate action monitoring.

Continuous scoring

Ratings updated as data changes. Alerts on material score shifts.

The Nine Pillars

Four ethical vetoes. Five excellence drivers.

ESG vs GoodWay

Not rivals. Different questions.

ESG was designed to answer questions about environmental and social impact. It was not designed, and cannot be expected, to cover the dignity of human life as Christian Social Teaching understands it.
